Product Review Category: TOOLS AND BRUSHES

The Excursionist

Alrighty, gals. We’ve hooked you up with all the odds and ends to make you look gorgeous for your perfect weekend away. But where are you going to stash all of your goodies?

Angle Eye Shadow Brush (Bobbi Brown)

Bobbi Brown just gets it, and has created the PERFECT eye shadow brush. I just want to take this woman out for mimosas. You will too, when you use her Angle Eye Shadow Brush and see how beautifully it fits into every nook and cranny of the eye. Her products work WITH the face, and not against it. A must for any PW’s arsenal.

The Archer

Can I complain about a $12 tweezer that I can throw in my bag for last minute eyebrow emergencies? No, I cannot. Especially since I get my eyebrows threaded, so this cute little guy – “The Archer”, from Sephora, for the record- is a “just in case”. Never a bad idea, and it’s actually really precise for being so small.

Hourglass Ambient Powder Brush

I finally admitted I had a problem after I purchased not one, not two, but THREE Ambient Lighting Powders from Hourglass Cosmetics. But, wait– THAT wasn’t the problem! The problem was that I still hadn’t purchased the beautiful brush that resided right beside those powders, to apply them each and every day so effectively!!

Travel Essential Brush Set (SEPHORA)

I was extremely happy with this travel set of brushes from Sephora- 3 in total (foundation, eye, powder). All you need in life (or for an amazing weekend away….) in a cute little pouch. OH, and it’s $20, you say? Now I’m dancing a jig. 😉

Nano Sharpener (SEPHORA)

Solid lip and eye sharpener from the Sephora collection- nothing life changing. Your pencils break, you dig around the apartment and find this little thing, sharpen them, and wait for them to break again. What a vicious makeup cycle…

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler

This was the workhorse of lash curlers. They don’t sell this in the states anymore but you can get it on the Shu Uemura site, or several other sites.

Kevyn Aucoin – The Eyelash Curler

Curling my lashes is a must. Even if I don’t wear a stitch of makeup, curling makes me feel good. The red pad on it makes it easy to line up with the lash roots. Won’t take off your lashes. I am split down the middle between this one and the Shu Uemura curler, except the latter cannot be bought in the states. So for easy purchase, go with the Kevyn Aucoin.

Revlon Eyelash Curler

“I’m awake… No, really! I am!” OK, 9 times out of 10, this is a fib. Anyone with me? Anyone else use their little friend, the Eyelash Curler, to assist in this LWL (Little White Lie)? Personally, I save some dough on curlers- I’ve used Revlon’s for years and find it does the job just as well as it’s pricier (but oftentimes showier) cousins.

Tweezerman Tweezers

Fabulous brand. Best tweezers. Period.
