Clinique’s High Definition Mascara

CONFESSION TIME: I bought Clinique’s High Definition Mascara based on a friend’s HIGH recommendation and used it for days incorrectly, meaning I was meant to use the comb to define and enhance my lashes.

Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara

I can’t hate ya, Neutrogena. You do certain things VERY well, like face wash, and skin tint. Your mascara, however… needs a little work.

MAC’s Opulash Mascara

Anyone else ever dream of being the lead ingenue in their own personal French romantic comedy, a la Amelie- all giant eyes and lush, curly eyelashes? Ah, good, I knew I wasn’t the only one! MAC’s Opulash Mascara is here to make your little gamine heart sing.

L’oreal’s Voluminous Mascara

You know that boy everyone thinks is really cute on the football team, so you just go along and smile and nod, even though you think he’s a total Monet? That’s how I feel about L’oreal’s Voluminous Mascara.

Elnett Satin Extra Strong Hold Hair Spray

This is the best hairspray ever. I don’t really think there’s too much more to say. OK…you know me better than that. You get a great hold, but not too MUCH hold. Perfect for updos, or to eat up excess oils when you’re trying to hang on desperately to your blow out. All around fabulous, PW hall of fame-worthy.

Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask

Other than Chipotle, Neutrogena’s Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask is my favorite way to spend $7. (Actually, Chipotle ends up being more…I always end up adding that dang guacamole…) The instructions say to use this after shampooing, but I like to do it on dry hair, before shampooing, and get all of your other business out of the way. And heck– go get your burrito afterward with your gorgeous hair, girl!

Happy Happy, Joy Joy

“Who smells so freaking good??” And so it went recently as I waited to buy my Q-tips at 11:30pm on a recent Tuesday evening. And so it will go every time I use this conditioner, Happy Happy, Joy Joy, from Lush. And with you, so run out immediately: this kind of attention = GOOD. The smell is intoxicatingly beautiful- it IS called hair PERFUME, after all.

Trichomania from Lush is made from creamed coconut, which is great for the hair, and is simple to use, once you get the hang of it. Wet your head, then rub, lather, rinse. Much less scary than the camping. :/

Aveeno Positively Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30

This drugstore-brand tinted moisturizer fully competes with Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer, but has more SPF (Mercier has SPF 20). It’s cheaper, has natural coverage, evens tone and has light-reflecting minerals. It is thicker than other tinted moisturizers, but I don’t mind this. I use the “light” shade and the color blends really nicely. I used to get compliments on my skin when I was wearing my favorite foundation (that’s another post), but I also get raves with this, and it’s not even foundation! I have never broken out from it.

Modern Friction (Origins)

Awesome exfoliator worth every cent! When I was sniffing around Origins, the salesperson gave me a shpeal about how coarse crystals in some exfoliants break blood vessels and other scary facts that had me riveted and desirous of protecting my vessels right away. I buckled and bought it. Survey says… LOVE IT and have purchased for many a friend.
